Nine Inch Nails dude Trent Reznor’s other maritally-inspired group How To Destroy Angels has just released their second EP, named An Omen. Or An omen EP_ if you’re into graphic design.
You can preview the EP here on Soundcloud.
You can watch a video of one of the tracks right here, too.
Trent Reznor is giving Nine Inch Nails a bit of a break. In the meantime he’s worked with a couple of his regular collaborators and wife Mariqueen Maandig in a new group called How To Destroy Angels. They’ve released a self-titled EP that you can download for free from their website.
It’s very Year Zero-NIN-ish. That is, there are poppy, glitchy electronic sounds, some moody synths, bleeping crescendos. The difference this time is that Mariqueen sings while Trent does a few backing vocals. I say “sings”, but really she only does breathy, rhythmic speaking. So if you like latter-day NIN you’ll probably like this. There are a couple of Fragile-sounding guitar and piano bits too, most notably on closer “A Drowning”.
Check out the video for “The Space In Between” (in which the Reznors appear to be having a very bad day) below, or download “BBB” from my Box, on the right.
