Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2009 competition

London’s National Maritime Museum incorporates the adjacent Greenwich world heritage site (that lent its name to GMT) as well as the Royal Observatory.

Because of the latter the Museum is currently holding an Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition. That link has info about the contest, the judges, and some of the best pics.

You can see the flickr group with all the submissions here. There are some truly amazing space photos there. The fact that they’re all taken from Earth makes them doubly amazing.
